The Belvedere House

Project Summary

This soaring great room called for furnishings that could hold their own against the scale of the space without competing with its architecture. We approached the room through contrast, pairing crisp ivory upholstery with cognac leather, dark wood and blackened metal to create a more contemporary counterpoint to the home's traditional columns, millwork and dramatic proportions. Generously scaled pieces establish distinct areas for conversation while maintaining the openness and symmetry that make the room so striking. Texture plays a quieter role throughout, from the dimensional neutral rug and tailored textiles to travertine accents and warm leather, adding depth to a deliberately restrained palette. The result is a space that bridges old-world architecture and modern living refined, comfortable and appropriately scaled to its surroundings.
